COMPANY HISTORY OVERVIEW
FAMILY OWNED
Pisgah Pest Control Inc. was founded in 1967 by John Benton “Murph” Felty.
He was a graduate of Gettysburg College and Penn State University where he received a master’s degree in horticulture.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for extraordinary bravery and composure under fire in the European Campaign.
He moved his family to Brevard from Pompano Beach, Florida, and worked for the State of N.C. Horticulture Crops Research Station. In 1967, he started his own company, Pisgah Pest Control, and operated the business until he retired in 1988.
In 1988 E. Anne Felty, daughter of Mr. Felty, & Sam Edney bought the business and relocated the office from Murph’s house to the “Pisgah Candy Company” building in downtown Brevard.
Pisgah Pest Control has grown over the years, relocated to Rosman Hwy, opening additional offices in Asheville, Cashiers, Hendersonville and Waynesville, and continues to operate with the same focus on the core purpose.
